ABF 19.20 LN

  • GOOD MORNING
  • Victory in Christ starts with Christ. Shocker! Without Christ’s work on the cross and defeat of death, we move forward with hope.
  • This enables us to radically rethink the way/reason we live. Last week we talked about dominion over nature and how our Victory through our Lord enables us to rethink our roles in that
  • God granted Adam dominion over the created order as part of his originally intended purpose from God. We understand dominion as part of the sanctifying process in the life of the believer.
  • Ecc. 1: 2-11
  • The message of the world is to “purchase” for yourself your own inheritance. Take what’s yours. Make life about what you can store up for yourself here and now
  • This kind of pursuit is unstable by nature. Things are shifting all the time … what is objectively good to pursue? When the culture is constantly redefining that, how can we know?
  • God’s inheritance, by contrast, stays the same for all those who would seek to pursue Him through Christ.
  • Romans 8: 5-25
  • “…those controlled by their sinful nature can never please God.”
  • Inheritance in/through Christ means blessing and glory in abundance, but it also means suffering as He suffered as well.
  •  Colossians 1: 9-29
  • Being adopted heirs alongside Christ is a special honor that not everyone accepts, sadly.
  • Galatians 5: 19-21
  • Do we understand that one of the reasons why is because it comes at a cost? Sunshines and rainbows in this life are not guaranteed for the believer. It’s not because of a lack of faith as some may suggest.
  • John 15
  • Co-heirs in Christ applied now means suffering in our pursuit to spread the Gospel and preach Truth through the Word.
  • The Truths Christ preached got Him killed. People didn’t like it, they didn’t want to hear it. That wasn’t convincing for Christ, and so he moved forward knowing what it would bring. Do we?
  • Hone in on your agency by thinking ahead of the moment we are in now. What we stand to receive because of our union to Christ is nothing compared to what we may go through on the way there.
  • Are we victims of the now, forsaking what is eternal in order to make our lives easier?
  • Or are we ready to partner in suffering, knowing the glorious future ahead makes hardship worth it?
  • Proverbs 6: 6-11
  • Matt. 26: 36-46
  • Revelation 21

QUESTIONS:

  • WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THE SPIRIT HAS PROVIDED MEANING/PURPOSE FOR YOU WITHIN THE WORLD AS DESCRIBED IN ECC. ?
  • HOW CAN YOU BE MORE ASSERTIVE IN YOUR METHODS OF SERVICE FOR CHRIST?
  • HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT HOW HARD YOU WORK, WHAT YOU’RE ACTUALLY WORKING FOR AND HOW IT IS A WORTHY SACRIFICE?
