- Colin carries on with his message of agency by introducing the responsibility that comes with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Teaching, Prophecy, evangelism, mercy are a few different examples of that. As he dives into these concepts, try to keep in mind how these gifts may relate to you, and what specifically your responsibility looks like as you seek to do right by God with these gifts.
- When it comes to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we don’t accept them with a sense of guilt as if we don’t want them, and would like to throw them away or store them outside of your everyday life. But these gifts are good for us as they come from God, we don’t have to work for them and they weren’t given to us by any sort of thing we did. They were freely given and we must understand what our agency looks like while we have the opportunity to use them every day.
- 1 Corinthians 14:1-3
- 1 Peter 4:10-11 gives us a clear message on how to truly serve one another to the best of our abilities as we start understanding what spiritual gifts we have.
- It’s not so much about fear of what we think we deserve from our sinful nature, but about how we love one another. The body of Christ thrives when we truly apply the specific giftings we inherited alongside one another with the love shown through Christ.
- Romans 12:4-8 tells us to own our giftings confidently, Paul makes it fundamentally clear the mindset we ought to have while we serve in the Body of Christ. Even through the mistakes, we must be serving wholeheartedly and with deep joy and enthusiasm.
- A believer ought to prayerfully test what gift God gave them because it is not something you can just youtube, or read on, it is a personal inheritance from God and it is realized by going through life with Him in time.
- How do you respond in times of stress and trouble? How do you apply yourself in a circumstance that clearly needs your contribution? Seek the place of service God has put in your life and do not be afraid to fully commit to it.
- Matthew 25:24-30
- To us, our giftings may be different, but to God, they are all the same and equal. To those who do not do right by what they are given, even the little they have will be taken, but to those who do right, even more will be given. We should not be lazy in how it is we serve!
- We all must choose to pursue the investment of our gifts, as the kingdom of God is among us. We will have moral consequences that come from what we do with the gifts He has given us.
